Garden Peach
Sprawling plants carry tresses of pale yellow fruits with a pink blush and
a soft skin that is reminiscent of a small rosaceous peach. There are 6-8
tomatoes per tress. The flavor is memorable, somewhat sweet and a bit tart.
NOTE: This is NOT the fruit known as Cocona
or "garden peach." This is an heirloom variety of tomato. For more information
on the cocona, visit Purdue
University's horticulture site. To inquire about purchasing cocona seeds,
try Trade
Winds Fruit.

Suggestions: For easier harvesting, support plants
with stakes or cages. Start seeds indoors six to eight weeks before planting outdoors.
Harden off seedlings by putting them outside during the day for 1 week before
transplanting. Transplant seedlings to the garden when nighttime temperatures
remain above 55 degrees Farenheit. Enrich the soil before planting. Use landscape
fabric to retain heat in the soil. To avoid diseases, don't plant where tomatoes
or peppers have grown in the last two years. Water regularly to keep soil evenly
moist.
