BROCCOLI
Calabrese

Brought to the U.S. by Italian immigrants at the turn of the century. Dark green plant with blue-green head. Remains productive after harvest of the head, with many side shoots until frost. Great for fresh use or freezing.

Source: Seeds of Change
Days to germination: 5-14
Days to harvest: 60-90
Planting depth: 1/4 - 1/2"
Spacing (row/plant): 24-36"/18"

Certified Organic
Heirloom

Suggestions: Before planting, enrich the soil with compost. To avoid disease problems, don't plant where broccoli or related plants grew within the last 2 years. Does best when transplanted outside mid-spring or late summer. Water regularly and fertilize monthly. To harvest, cut the stem 4 to 6 inches below the central head while the buds are small and tight. No yellow flowers should be visible in the head.
