--------------------------------------------
It's a good thing the garden got as cleaned up as it did, because we're getting a big snowstorm tonight. I was supposed to plant the first spinach this past weekend, but I didn't get any in. I can do it next week, since I plan on several plantings. I think I will rent a tiller in the next couple weeks and till the whole bottom part of the garden. I won't bother with building anything down there, but will mound up the dirt to create raised beds and paths. I think it's gonna be in the 40s again this weekend, but I'm not sure if the snow will make the ground too wet.

Sunday was another major clean-up day down in the garden. I spent another 3 1/2 hours cleaning up the 4 raised beds and all the paths in the top part of the garden. I also mulched all the beds and paths with leaves from last fall. (It was free, readily available mulch!) The beds are ready to plant in, but could probably use some amendments.

Saturday was the first day I could actually work down in the garden. It was in the mid- to high-40s, but it was sunny and nice! I spent about 3 hours out there and got the entire perennial bed cleaned up. I dug a new trench and planted 10 Mary Washington asparagus plants (1-year-old crowns). These are in addition to the 10 Purple Sweet plants from last year. (I hope they survived!)
