--------------------------------------------
I went down in the garden today. I actually had some tomatoes! Of course, now they're starting to come in fine with a sure frost only a few weeks off! We've had a few frosts in some areas, but we haven't had one yet. So, I had a handful of cherry tomatoes (Peacevine) and some Garden Peach. I also still have a bunch of Nasturtiums growing down there. They're really pretty, but I didn't realize they were so viney (is that a word?). I really should have something they can climb on. I have some clean up to do down there still, but I don't have all my energy back from being sick, so I couldn't bring myself to do it today. Next weekend for sure!

Now it's really warm here again. (That's typical Cincinnati weather!) We've had temperatures in the 70s. It's about to get cooler again, though.
My peppers above the laundry room sink are actually ripening, although a couple of the plants have peppers that are kind of shriveled. I'm not sure what happened there. I think I need to research this a little more...
Non garden-related news: I've slowed down work on my garden Web site. I was sick all last week with a sinus infection and was very busy at work... (the rest of this post has been removed by Big Brother)

It has been really cold here (some areas already had frosts), so I tried to start "closing up" the garden this past weekend. The willow fence I bought about a year and a half ago completely fell apart this season. It looked really cool, it just didn't last as long as I thought it would. Live and learn! So, I took the rest of the broken fence pieces out of the garden and also pulled up a ton of weeds. I still have a lot to do in that department. These weird prickly weeds took over about 1/4 of the garden plot this year. It was really annoying!
I also pullled everything out of the 2 raised beds in the back and had Jason dump all the grass clippings from the bottom of the yard on them. I'll add leaves later and that should really help improve the soil for next year. I still have some of my sorry tomatoes in the first 2 beds, but nothing is really happening there. Almost all of my tomatoes this year were ruined by disease, animals, or something else. It really sucked! I missed all the BLTs I could have had!
I pulled up all of my pepper plants and hung them upside down over the laundry room sink. I read that the peppers would continue to ripen this way. I did get a pretty good hot pepper crop this year (I have a lot in the freezer), but the bell peppers barely produced anything.
The good thing is, I learned a lot this year and I'm already thinking about next spring!

Welcome to my garden journal. It's the end of the outdoor gardening season here, but I'm going to start writing in my garden journal now so I can document everything that goes in to the garden.
