CATNIP

Catnip is the easiest herb to grow. It was brought to the U.S. by European immigrants. Cats love it fresh or dried — either way, it's euphoric for them (and a mild sedative for humans). Catnip is drought tolerant once established.

Suggestions: Scarify seeds to aid germination by rubbing lightly back and forth 3-4 times between sheets of extra-fine sandpaper. Leaves can be picked anytime the cat wants them!
