--------------------------------------------

One of my orders of asparagus crowns arrived earlier than expected, so I had to start getting the garden ready. I really should have done this sooner, because I need to plant spinach outside now anyway. I cleaned out a long area to the south of my normal garden area. It was full of groundcover vines and was a real mess. Now, it's a nice bed about 25' x 3 1/2'. (I'll have to measure it to get the actual size.) The previous owners of our house (not the last owners but the one before them) has asparagus and rhubarb and some herbs growing in this area. I didn't disturb it too much, so who knows what perennials may pop up. I thought there were some Chives, but I didn't see any yesterday when I worked on it. We're supposed to get rain for the next few days, so on the next dry, nice day, I'll plant the first group of asparagus crowns. I also may plant some spinach or lettuce in that area if it fits.
